Emotions ran high on Thursday at the memorial service for 14- year-old Keamogetswe Sefularo in Mehlakeng near Randfontein.
The Lukhanyo Secondary School grade 10 pupil was stabbed to death in an incident last Friday which was linked to satanic practices.
Speakers described her as a humble and forgiving person. Schoolmates broke down in tears and some collapsed during the moving service. Her friend Cynthia Tsemekwane, described her friendship as a “gift from God”.
“She had an amazing sense of humour and was always smiling. She forgave me when I wronged her and she wouldn’t hold any grudges,” Tsemekwane said as tears flowed down her cheeks.
Family member Busisiwe Nkosi said Sefularo wanted to become a chartered accountant.
The Gauteng department of education spokesperson, Charles Phahlane, said they had appointed a team to investigate the cult at the school.
