Emidio Macia’s family is desperate for justice and will only leave Johannesburg today after attending the bail application hearing of eight policemen implicated in the death of the 27-year-old Mozambican taxi driver in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court.
Family spokesperson Mario Fransisco, said on Thursday: “We will first go to court because we want to see justice. When we are done with court we will then leave for Mozambique.”
Fransisco said that although the mayor of Ekurhuleni, Mondli Gungubele, had made an effort to supply the family with a coffin, mourners were still struggling with transport and food.
