Americans have launched a petition asking the White House administration to consider R Kelly's 2003 hit 'Ignition (Remix)' as the new US national anthem.
According to reports, 100 000 signatures are needed by April 2 for the administration to respond to the request.
Meanwhile over 2 000 people have signed a petition for the White House to have the R&B track replace 'The Star-Spangled
Banner', Digital spy reported.
On the other hand, Huffington Post reported that fans who are eager to see R Kelly's party anthem taking over, filed the
petition on the administration's website.
"We, the undersigned, would like the Obama administration to recognise the need for a new national anthem," says the
petition. "One that even a decade after its creation, is still hot and fresh out of the kitchen.
"America has changed since Francis Scott Key penned our current anthem in 1814. Since then, we have realised that after the show, it's the afterparty, and that after the party, it's the hotel lobby, and - perhaps most importantly - that 'round about
four, you've got to clear the lobby, at which point it's strongly recommended that you take it to the room and freak
