Ten houses were flooded at the Morningside Estate in Sandton when a water pipe burst on Thursday, Johannesburg emergency said.

"There is a lot of damage. The walls have fell onto cars. We are busy stabilising the walls and removing the rumble," said spokesman Robert Mulaudzi.

He said Alphen road had been closed for traffic. No injuries were reported, he said.
