Mmutle Police have confirmed that the Hartswater cluster unit is investigating a case of rape and attempted murder.
He was arrested at Donkerhoek squatter camp in the early hours of Saturday morning at about 2.30am.
Apparently Sehako and the victim, were sitting together enjoying beers on Friday evening. Both the victim and the accused know each other since they are neighbours.
Police spokesperson Olebogeng Tawana said it was alleged that after both of them had consumed alcohol Sehako made sexual advances towards the victim and the woman was not interested in the accused.
“Sehako dragged the victim into a nearby yard, he stabbed the victim in the back with a knife and after that he raped her.
“The victim ran to seek help from the neighbours and they alerted the police about this atrocity. The victim was taken to the hospital to receive medical treatment for the stab wounds she had sustained,” said Tawana.
Police said Sehako ran away after he stabbed and raped the victim. He went into another shack where he also stabbed a 29 year old woman.
“Community members arrested him and gave him some lashes. But the police arrived on the scene and rescued him from further assault by furious community members,” he said.
Both female victims live at Donkerhoek.
The suspect will remain in police custody until his next court appearance in Hartswater on two charges of attempted murder and rape.
The farming town of Hartswater is situated close to the North West border.
