The head of the Limpopo department of roads and transport Ntau Letebele, under internal investigation for a multimillion-rand tender, which allegedly partly benefited fired ANCYL president Julius Malema, resigned from the department on Tuesday.
Letebele tendered a 24-hour resignation notice on Monday.
Provincial department of transport spokesperson Joshua Kwapa said yesterday: “We can confirm that the head of department has tendered a resignation letter and we have accepted it.”
Letebele’s departure came just days after the announcement of the start of investigations into the awarding of a R53m contract to On-Point Engineering owned by Lesiba Gwagwa, who according to a report by the public protector, transferred R2.17m into Malema’s family trust.
