North West Premier Thandi Modise had conveyed her condolences to families of the two people who lost their lives in heavy storms that hit several villages in the province.

The police said that the first death that was reported was of a 22-year-old man who was caught in heavy rain while walking home in Madibogo South, the departmental spokesperson Lesiba  Kgwele said in a statement on Wednesday.

He said that the Provincial Disaster Management Centre was monitoring the situation and supporting the District Disaster Management Centres in coordinating emergency relief efforts in the area.
