GROUND WORK: The Aganang municipality is building a sports complex to be used by various local sporting codes.

Driven by a desire to keep more sportsmen and sports women in the spotlight both locally and internationally, the Aganang municipality in the Capricorn district held a sports indaba on Sunday.
The indaba, which was attended by various stakeholders established an interim sports council.
Peter Setiba an official of the Aganang Football Association was appointed an interim chairperson and given a task to establish more sports federations for various codes within two years.
“If sports development is taken seriously, more people, especially young ones will follow in the footsteps of stars of this municipality such as Caster Semenya, Platinum Stars FC defender Elias Ngoepe, Banyana Banyana striker Noko Matlou and Bidvest Wits goal keeper Jackson Mabokgwane,” municipal spokesperson Malesela Maubane said.
The municipality has set aside R150000 to support sports federations with transport and will also coordinate their activities. The municipality is also building the R1.8 Tibane sports complex.
