Marilyn Ramos can now add Miss South Africa 2012 to her CV. The 21-year-old student is from Klerksdorp and is studying interior architecture at Inscape Design Centre in Pretoria. Stacey Webb from Cape Town was crowned first princess Pearle Nxele from Natal second princess.

As always it was an evening by and for the stars. Entertainment included music from local songbird Chiano Sky, the Bala brothers, Toya deLazy and Zakes Bantwini.

The evening kicked off with the 12 lovely finalists in yellow dresses courtesy of local designer JJ Schoeman accompanied by 12 Latin dancers as they individually introduced themselves to the audience.

The evening was hosted by Rhythm City actor, Lungile Radu; Top Billing presenter, Jo-Ann Strauss and former beauty queen and TV presenter, Bridget Masinga-Khathi.

The usual suspects graced the red carpet; including power acting couple Connie and Shona Ferguson, principal judge Sonia Raciti- Oshry; radio personality and judge, Kieno Kammies and radio personality and judge Anele Mdoda

SA’s reigning Miss SA Teen Celeste Khumalo told The New Age that she is indecisive on whether she’ll enter the Miss SA pageant although, the prize package and the experience makes it all worth it.

"Anyone can enter now, the age has been lowered to 18 years which makes it all interesting now.”
