Barzani Development, Project Management and Construction's history of completing construction work promptly and sometimes ahead of the deadline won the company the Govan Mbeki Human Settlements Youth Contractor award in Mafikeng last week.
Established in 2009, the company has completed construction of 1440 houses in Coligny in eight months, between April and November last year.
Barzani beat two companies, namely Silango's Management System CC, which came second, and Synchrocom into third position, to win the category.
"We are different from other companies because we deliver quality houses quickly. That's why we deserve this award.
"We are a dynamic South African construction and development group that has delivered consistent growth through leadership, innovation and quality," said 30-year-old Ian van der Merwe, one of the three company directors.
Cecilia Thomas, 23, also a director, said team work in their company had paid dividends and they employed community members from the areas in which the project was being implemented.
"Experience counts because we have been in the construction industry for 12 years," she said.
