Cosatu in the Western Cape said it was disappointed that the province did not have a significant event to celebrate Freedom Day which brings people together to remember those who paid the ultimate price.
“It’s as if the Western Cape does not want to be reminded of the end of apartheid, which saw the end of racism at the ballot box”, the federation said in a statement.
It said that it would have seem though DA hopes that people would not be reminded about the legacy of apartheid and the generational advantage that still exist in the Western Cape.
“By trying to downplay the Freedom that we won will not let us forget that we must still liberate the economy from white dominance and the boys club that perpetuates the advantage of Apartheid”.
“We celebrate our Freedom Day with all Freedom loving South Africans in the Western Cape, both Black and White”, it said.
