A man's body was found on St James beach in Kalk Bay, Cape Town, early Friday morning, the City of Cape Town's disaster operations centre said.
The man, believed to be in his late 30s, was found fully-clothed in the beach tidal pool around 8am, spokesman Wilfred Solomons-Johannes said in a statement.
"At this stage it would appear that the deceased could have been walking on the pool wall when he slipped and knocked his head, which resulted in him falling into the pool," he said.
It was believed the fall rendered the man unconscious which resulted in him drowning.
An examination of his body showed a bloody mark above his right eyebrow and white foam, consistent with drowning, around his mouth and nose. Sapa
