This year, Freedom Park, is set to celebrate Freedom Day in style by offering visitors free entrance to the Park on Friday, 27 April 2011.
“On Freedom Day we commemorate South Africa’s first non-racial and democratic elections held on 27 April 1994. This day will forever stand in the hearts and minds of our people, said Fana Jiyane, Chief Executive Officer of Freedom Park.
“As we celebrate peace, unity, freedom and human dignity, we invite each and every South African to celebrate with us at a place that stands as a monument to humanity and freedom, Freedom Park”, he said.
He said that Freedom Day is a time for people to remember and honour those who suffered for the freedom we are enjoying today.
“We pay homage to the triumph of the human spirit,” he said Jiyane.
Guided tours take place at 10:00, 12:00 and 15:00.
