The Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation has urged communities and sport federations in the province to make nominations for the forth coming sports awards.
This year’s awards follow the successful launch of the 2012 Gauteng Sport Awards on the 17th of April at Emperors Palace.
Nominations are open for Gauteng based individuals and teams who have excelled both on and off the field during the period 1st of January 2011 to 31st December 2011.
“I would like to encourage all Gauteng citizens including sport federations to go out in numbers to nominate their favourite sport stars,” said Gauteng MEC for Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation Lebogang Maile.
Nominations can be made in the following 12 categories: Sportsman of the Year, Sportswoman of the Year, Sport Team of the Year, Disabled Sportswoman of the Year, Disabled Sportsman of the Year, Disabled Sports Team of the Year, Most promising athlete of the year, Most promising team of the year, Coach of the Year, Technical Official of Year, Administrator of the Year and the Sport Journalist of the year.
