Lebogang Boshomane
Comrade Babble is a political satire by Allan Kolski Horwitz, featuring David James and Lebohang Motaung, and directed by Alby Michaels.
The play is built around Kebble/Babble’s return from the dead in order to present the ‘truth’ of his life in the face of numerous books and articles which have painted him as a “profiteer and manipulative pirate”.
It examines him from different perspectives as reflected in his dealings with a group of five other characters – free-ranging portraits of people (or composites of people) who were actually involved with Kebble.
Brett Kebble was mysteriously killed in 2005 in what appears to have been an ‘assisted suicide.
The play runs at the Market laboratory from the 4 – 13 May 2012.
