A 37-year-old man was arrested for driving over the speed limit on the N1 near Nasrec, south of Johannesburg on Sunday, metro police said.

Spokesman Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said the man from Alberton was a caught doing 245km/h on his green Kawasaki motorcycle

"He was arrested for reckless and negligent driving," he said.

Minnaar said he would also face an additional charge for not displaying the number plate on the motorcycle.

He was due to appear in the Roodepoort Magistrate's court on Monday. -Sapa
