A man was transported to Mediclinic Kimberley hospital after he sustained injuries on Wednesday morning following an accident on the N8 highway about 60km from Kimberley.

ER24 spokesperson Andre Visser said the cause of the accident was unclear, but a truck had allegedly attempted to pass a slow-moving tractor when it veered off the road into the veld.

The truck then rolled onto its right side. "When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they found that the driver of the truck had sustained some injuries.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene for suspected back and neck injuries before transporting him to Kimberley for further care," said Visser.

Traffic on the N8 was affected as the recovery of the truck took some time.
