IN YOUR EYE: The BMW 520d and 320d EfficientDynamics editions look set to impress.
The BMW Group, official vehicle supplier to the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games, recently delivered the first 40 vehicles that will be used for this year’s Olympic and Paralympic Games in London.
The fleet consists of electric, diesel and hybrid cars, as well as a range of motorcycles and bicycles that feature BMW’s EfficientDynamics technologies in an effort to achieve a strict 120g/km carbon emissions target.
Tim Abbott, MD of BMW in the UK said: “BMW’s Olympic fleet needs to be varied to deal with the complex operational demands of the Games. We were selected as a partner based on our ability to provide such a diverse fleet that could achieve the challenging emissions threshold as set by the organisers.” Abbott said that the fleet would include BMW’s latest diesels, hybrids, electric vehicles and even bicycles. “We are extremely proud for our cars to be involved in the London 2012 Games and are excited about seeing them in full service this summer in these eye-catching designs.”
Among the first cars that have now been decorated and delivered are the new 520d EfficientDynamics and the new 320d EfficientDynamics, both of which will be active throughout the Games. – TNA Reporter
