The Comrades Marathon Association, organisers of the annual Comrades marathon, are offering a free seminar to help runners complete the course.
The association says the series of seminars are primarily aimed at encouraging and empowering first-time runners with the scientific and technical support they require to achieve their goal of conquering the world’s greatest ultra-marathon.
“Comrades enthusiasts may look forward to a wealth of information on such matters as tackling the gruelling distance, how to set your goals, injury prevention, tapering the last three weeks and the last three days’ training, seconding and nutrition during the race day,” said the association.
The first of these exciting and interactive seminars was scheduled to be hosted in Western Cape on Tuesday at Alphen Centre in Cape Town at 7pm. The official Comrades coach Lindsey Parry, motivational speaker Brad Brown and the Comrades king Bruce Fordyce were on hand to answer any questions from the audience.
The good news about these seminars is that entrance is free and runners from all running clubs throughout South Africa are welcome. This year’s Comrades marathon will be the down run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban and it will be held on June 3. About 18000 runners have already registered to take part, with plenty of overseas runners lining up to take part in the world’s toughest marathon.
