Stella Ndabeni, Deputy Minister of Communications, is to hand over a cyberlab with 10 computers as well as school uniforms to pupils at Dikubu Primary School in Mokgophong, Waterberg, on Monday.

Monty Sekhukhuni, executive head in the deputy minister’s office, said the initiative was part of Ndabeni’s Reclaiming Our Future Through ICTs campaign.

Sekhukhuni said since October 2011, Ndabeni had given cyberlabs to four schools. “She will continue to reach as many schools as possible. The campaign aims to afford pupils in underserviced schools an opportunity to learn through ICTs,” said Sekhukhuni.

“She also donates school uniforms and shoes to encourage pupils to remain in schools as education is a critical tool in contributing to economic growth and poverty alleviation.”

The programme is rolled out through partnerships with various stakeholders.

Spokesperson for the provincial department of education Pat Kgomo welcomed the effort.
