The SA Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Sacci) on Monday welcomed the signing of service delivery contracts by government officials across the country.
"This is a major step forward in holding officials accountable for service delivery failures," Sacci said in a statement.
Last week, a number of MECs and mayors signed service delivery agreements with Co-operative Governance Minister Sicelo Shiceka.
"Countrywide, Sacci chambers of commerce have had poor experiences relating to sanitation, water and electricity supply and infrastructure maintenance which has been exacerbated by recent strikes."
Sacci said these chambers looked forward to improvements in these areas and other aspects of local government responsibility. - Sapa
